A Brief History

Boulder City has a rich history dating back to the early days of the 20th century. This unique city was purpose-built to house the workers involved in the construction of the Hoover Dam, and today, it is a thriving community with a small-town feel and a whole lot to love. 

Boulder City was originally founded in 1931 as a base camp for workers on the Hoover Dam project. It was one of the first cities in Nevada to incorporate, and because of that, it has a different feel than most other cities in the state. For example, alcohol was banned in Boulder City because the city was initially created for government workers who were not allowed to drink alcohol on the job site.

Although many of the original restrictions have been lifted in recent years, Boulder City still retains its small-town feel.
